Summer 2014 marked an ongoing collaboration between Niagara University USA and The Live Literature Company, in which Niagara Performing Arts students are offered the opportunity to take part in a study abroad programme focused on British Drama, taught by The Live Literature Company.
Study and performance of Shakespeare's works is at the heart of this programme and 2014 marked the first year of this programmes collaboration with the Shakespeare Birthplace Trust in Stratford-upon-Avon. This included a staged production of Shakespeare's The Tempest in Hall's Croft Garden.
Val's concept for the production of The Tempest highlighted the company's commitment to raising awareness of climate change. The Tempest is set on an island, which Val envisioned as an island disappearing due to rising sea levels.
For more information on the company's dedication to environmental concerns please see details of our Summer Party 2013 and read the message from the Director of Friends of the Earth.
