Val directed the one woman play Dottie by Irene Ison. The play dramatised the life of American writer, critic, and satirist, Dorothy Parker.
Dorothy was played by Tania Ison, daughter of the writer Irene Ison.
The opening performances were staged at the Arts Theatre Birmingham, and was followed by a charity gala evening in London at the King's Head Theatre, Islington. This gala was to raise money for the Islington N.S.P.C.C.
