Human Rights and the Arts - Amnesty International Performance Evening - The New Spring Without FGM

This Forum Theatre performance evening, presented in collaboration with Amnesty International's Creative Writers Group included a performance of Val's prose poem First Love, a tragedy about cultural misunderstanding. Madeleine Oaten and Tony Hasnath gave a very moving performance. The evening included readings by the actors and Val from contemporary Arab literature written on FGM, and talks against FGM given by Yvette Robbin-Coker from Forward and Jennette Arnold AM OBE. The discussion with the audience was chaired by David Maidment 0BE.

This evening developed the company's relationship with Forward, one of the leading organisations in the UK working against FGM. We look forward to working with them on this issue as well as continuing the work with Amnesty.
